Legal Team Zach Meyers (Australian qualified)

Zach joined Towerhouse in 2014.  Zach spent several years at one of Australia’s largest law firms, where he extensively advised Australia’s telecommunications incumbent, Telstra, on all aspects of communications regulation and competition law.  This included representing Telstra in negotiations for an AUD 11bn agreement with the Australian Government’s National Broadband Network company, which are intended to eventually result in Telstra’s full structural separation.  He has also advised the World Bank and a number of developing country governments on telecoms law and policy reform throughout the Pacific, and spent a year working for a major firm in New York.  In 2013, he was recognised by Australia’s Lawyers Weekly magazine as one of Australia’s top three telecoms, media and technology lawyers under 30. 

Zach graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2008 with a Bachelor in Laws (First Class Hons) and Bachelor of Arts. He also holds a Diploma of Modern Languages (French) and a Master of Public & International Law from the University of Melbourne, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law. He has published peer-reviewed articles on public law, international investment arbitration and legal theory in the Australian Journal of Administrative Law, Australian Feminist Law JournalGriffith Law Review and Transnational Dispute Management and has taught comparative public law in the Stetson University College of Law’s London programme.

At Towerhouse, Zach has advised across the spectrum of regulated industries – including energy, telecoms, water, aviation and payment systems. He has particular experience advising on price controls and other aspects of economic regulation.
